NMCN Registration and Practising Licence Requirements

To register as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Midwife (RM) on Nexa Nurse, you must provide valid evidence of your professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

1. NMCN Certificate of Registration

You may provide your official NMCN Certificate of Registration:

  • RN Certificate – for Registered Nurses.
  • RM Certificate – for Registered Midwives.
  • If you are registered as both RN and RM, evidence of both registrations should be provided.

What if you don’t have the physical certificate?

If you do not have your physical NMCN Certificate of Registration, you can provide your NMCN Registration Number / Professional PIN document, which may have been sent to your registered email address as a PDF.

Download the PDF and upload it in the Certificate Upload section of your Nexa Nurse profile.

NMCN’s licensing process also requires applicants to provide evidence of their registration, including relevant registration documentation.

2. Current NMCN Practising Licence

Registered Nurses and Midwives are also expected to maintain a current NMCN Practising Licence.

If you have a valid practising licence, ensure that your professional registration and licensing information is available and up to date.

3. Specialist Nursing Registration

If you hold a recognised nursing specialty, you may also have a separate NMCN specialty registration and registration number.

Examples of nursing specialties include:

  • Paediatric Nursing
  • Psychiatric Nursing
  • Perioperative Nursing
  • Accident & Emergency Nursing
  • Public Health Nursing
  • Nurse Anaesthesia
  • Orthopaedic Nursing
  • And other recognised nursing specialties.

NMCN maintains separate registrations for recognised specialties, with individual registration numbers.

If you have a specialty registration that is relevant to your professional profile, you may be required to provide the appropriate evidence during verification.

Important

All documents submitted for verification must be genuine, valid, and belong to the health professional registering on Nexa Nurse.

The information on your NMCN documents should correspond with the information provided in your Nexa Nurse profile.

If you are having difficulty locating or uploading your NMCN documents, please contact Nexa Nurse Support for assistance.
